The point is.the balance is shot, the shaft probably bent and your seals are shot. On the intake side (there are words like inducer and exducer, who knows what the mean.not that important anyway). On the exhaust side, you may not notice it as much since it "could" burn off in the exhaust heat. Once the seals go, you get oil pumping through shaft seals. The shaft spins at some ungodly RPM, if the balance isn't right it destroys the seals and bearings. Since the fins are nicked, it needs to be rebuilt! Most likely something got pulled into the turbo, rattled around like a pin ball, "kissed" a few of the fins.that probably caused the seals to go from the imbalance.
